Ta Tra House is at the East of Dien Tho Residence’s main hall. It was constructed in 1804 for the guests to step over before meeting the Grand Empress. The construction is made of wood, and roofed with flat tile with great slopeness. It has three apartment, two lean-tos. In 1917, under the reign of Emperor Khai Dinh, Ta Tra House was reconstructed with concrete and steel with more gates and windows to be shiner and airier. However, with the destruction of weather and war, only the foundation and some components of Ta Tra House remained. In 2014, Ta Tra House was restored. Currently, in the interior of Ta Tra House, a number of artifacts are displayed such as collapsed wooden tables, inlaid wooden cabinets, gilt tables and chairs of Emperor Khai Dinh’s style, and versions of glass paintings. In particular, the palanquin of Grand Empress Tu Cung (mother of Emperor Bao Dai) and the rickshaw of Grand Empress Tu Minh (mother of Emperor Thanh Thai) are also displayed here.
