Duyet Thi Duong Theatre was constructed in 1826 under the reign of Emperor Minh Mang. It is the oldest theatre of Vietnam has has been kept until now. It was where royal instrumentalists and dancers performed for the entertainment of the emperor, royal family, mandarins as well as foreign messengers. With historical ups and downs, Duyet Thi Duong was severely damaged. After 1945, it was used for the teaching hall of hue National Music Academy, due to which many constructions were demolished causing the change in structure. In 1995, with the technical support and partial financial grant of Codev Viet-Phap, Hue Monuments Conservation Centre had the theatre restored. Duyet Thi Duong Royal Theatre has been used for the performance of Nha Nhac-Vietnamese Court Music, Court Dance, Royal Tuong-Theatrical Play everyday for tourists.
