The gown of Nguyen emperors in Nam Giao Sacrifice

Under the monarchy, Nam Giao Sacrifice used to be the most important ceremony of the country. Nguyen Emperors, considered the Heaven’s Son, implemented the ceremony to pray for the nice weather and prosperity of the country. During the ceremony, the emperors put on the gown embroidered with  five-claw dragon pattern accompanied with other symbols as sun, moon, star, cloud, moutain, and etc. The gown did not reflect only the power of the emperors, but also the relationship between the “Heaven’s Son” and Human.

This gown was acknowledged as the National Treasure in 2015.
