Emperor Thieu Tri’s real name is Nguyen Phuc Mien Tong, his nicknames are Tuyen and Dung. He is the first son of Emperor Minh Mang and Madam Ho Thi Hoa (titled Queen Ta Thien Nhan). He was born on May 11th of the lunar year of Dinh Mao (on June 16th 1807 solar calendar) at Xuan Loc hamlet in the east of the Hue Citadel.

Emperor Thieu Tri went to the throne in 1841 until his death in 1847 at the age of 41. His tablet was worshiped in the The Mieu Temple with the posthumous title of Hien To Chuong Hoang De.

Emperor had 64 children (29 sons and 35 girls).
